From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. Communication is a process of transferring information from one entity to another. Communication processes are sign-mediated interactions between at least two agents which share a repertoire of signs and semiotic rules. Communication is commonly defined as "the imparting or interchange of thoughts, opinions, or information by speech, writing, or signs". Although there is such a thing as one-way communication, communication can be perceived better as a two-way process in which there is an exchange and progression of thoughts, feelings or ideas (energy) towards a mutually accepted goal or direction (information). Communication is a process whereby information is enclosed in a package and is channeled and imparted by a sender to a receiver via some medium. The receiver then decodes the message and gives the sender a feedback. All forms of communication require a sender, a message, and a receiver. Communication requires that all parties have an area of communicative commonality. There are auditory means, such as speech, song, and tone of voice, and there are nonverbal means, such as body language, sign language, paralanguage, touch, eye contact, through media, i.e., picures, graphics and sound, and writing. My boyfriend is going to college to get a degree in computers. He has two options either Computer Communications and Networks or Application Developement. He has a choice to get an associates degree in one of them. My question is which one would he benefit better from and what kind of jobs could he get with one of these and also what would he be doing? Like fixing computers, or what? Asked by Sara M - Mon Feb 2 19:01:23 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. Well considering that the computer and internet industry is booming, it would seem like a good job. I think with the advantage of going to school and getting a good education, he will already be a better job competitor than many. I would personally think that building and programming computers would be better than having a job WITH computers, since anybody can do that. Good luck to you both! Answered by Schooling Dietitian - Mon Feb 2 22:46:03 2009 What careers are best suitable for a person with a communications degree? Q. I am looking into possible majors and was wondering about a communications degree. I am interested in doing advertising but do not want to go to an art school which is the only place I have found offering an "advertising" major. I have read that communications can qualify you for an advertising type job. IS this correct? What other careers would I be suitable for with a communications degree and what type of minors, if any, should I look into? Asked by Seth B - Sun Jan 17 17:15:07 2010 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. Q. Does anyone have any ideas of what a person can do with a major in communications. I hear its a pretty bogus major, so i'm not sure if i should major in it. HELP! , thanks =) If i can go into advertising (sounds like fun), what steps do i need to take to do so? Asked by shasha p - Fri Sep 4 09:26:29 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. I've been wondering that too. I know you could go into journalism with it. But all I read about is that it teaches you to communicate really well with people. But WTF does that mean? So, I think you could get a office job in advertising or something. Answered by Michelle - Fri Sep 4 09:37:13 2009 From Yahoo Answer Search: "communications" |
