How many years does it take to complete aviation school to become a pilot?
Q. I want to know the years of training at the flight school, i know that the aviation perfers a university or college degree and that takes 4 years and into flight school, how many years does it take to graduate from aviation school. Is it 5-10 years?

A. I'll assume you mean how long to become a professional pilot. It doesn't have to take long at all to get all of your pilot certificates and ratings that you typically need. I'd say that for most, it takes a couple of years. However, if you can devote 100% of your time to flying (i.e. you're not working another job at the time), you can go from 0 hours to your first job in the aviation field (typically a flight instructor) in less than a year. Becoming a pilot is not like becoming a Doctor. You don't need years and years of schooling in order to do it. Yes, you need a college degree (in anything) in order to be competitive, however, learning to become a pilot is more like learning a trade or a vocation. It's something that can be… [cont.]

Q. Hello! Is 28 too old to commence a career in aviation? I began flying trying 18 months ago, part-time, after completing a degree and working full-time, and expect to complete a PPL mid-year. I have wanted to fly professionally since I was 15. I would like to commence training toward a CPL / MECIR, mid-year, full-time. However, I am unsure if this will prove fruitful due to my age. How old is too old to commence a career in aviation? With Regards. flying training not flying trying ;)

A. Not at all. If you're truly dedicated, you can make it to a major airline. The complicating factors are your personal life during the preparation, and your lifestyle. In my new hire class there was a gal of 26 years. That's eight years from high school to a major. Sure she went to Embery Riddle and had done an internship, but she's on the seniority list, and will be for many years to come. Get your multi rating, fly checks if need be, join a regional, and in a few years you will have thousand of flight hours. Best of luck.

How did China's plane crashes affect its aviation industry?
Q. Can anyone give any information on how China's numerous plane crashes (eg: in 2002, 2004, etc.) affect its aviation industry? Any heightened measures, controversies about their competence, perceptions by people on China's airline companies, etc.?

A. Overseas they have different rules and regulations on what they do to an aircraft derived from what the boss says. If they fly the aircraft in certain areas of the world they get away with it. I`m aware of to many times when they flew into the US the plane was grounded by the FAA. They just don`t care . The scary part is these U.S. companies farm out there aircraft to these places.

Aviation refers to flying using aircraft, machines designed by humans for atmospheric flight. More generally, the term also describes the activities, industries, and regulatory bodies associated with aircraft.

  • When once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return.
  • No bird soars too high, if he soars with his own wings.
  • Pilots take no special joy in walking. Pilots like flying.
  • The way I see it, you can either work for a living or you can fly airplanes. Me, I'd rather fly.
  • Pilots are a rare kind of human. They leave the ordinary surface of the word, to purify their soul in the sky, and they come down to earth, only after receiving the communion of the infinite.
  • If God had intended us to fly, He would have given us wings.
    • Anonymous proverb. Note that many humorous variations have been made from this, replacing the second half of the sentence with things such as, "He would have given us more money" or "He would have bought us the tickets" or in the quixotic commentery of Michael Flanders, "he would never have given us railways".
  • If God had intended us to fly, he wouldn't have invented Spanish air traffic control.
  • Any landing that you can walk away from is a good one!
